Knowing where one has been is at least as important as knowing where one is headed. Archives serve as both repositories of information that not only provide foundation knowledge, so as to prevent the "reinvention of the wheel," but also as histories, well-springs of memories of good work, worthy activity, and, of course, good friends.
This initial selection of items covers a wide variety of documents related to the many programs of ICS meetings and associated subjects that I've pulled from my files. As I retrieve information, I'll add to this section. I hope you get as much satisfaction from reading the various items as I have in preparing them for the site.

Dr. Arno Roscher, Wife of Dr. Juro Wada, Dr. Denton Cooley

Dr. Wada was the founding Chancellor of the World Society of Cardio-Thoracic Surgeons. In 1968 he performed performed Japan’s first heart transplant.

Dr. Cooley performed the first successful human heart transplant in the United States in 1968. In 1969, he became the first heart surgeon to implant an artificial heart in man. He is president emeritus, founded the Texas Heart Institute

Dr. Arno Roscher, Dr. Howard Detweiler, Dr. Mani Padmanabhan

Dr. Laks was an associate of Dr. Christian Barnard who performed the first human heart transplant in the world. Louis Washkansky received the heart on December 3, 1967.

Dr. Detweiler founded the Granada Hills Community Hospital in 1965.

Dr. Arno A. Roscher, M.D., is a World Governor, Vice President and US Section Representative at Large of the International College of Surgeons. He is a Clinical Professor of Pathology, Keck School of Medicine, USC (LA) Ret., and Emeritus Director of Laboratories, Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital. He is also an Emeritus member of FICS (Hon.) and FCAP and FASCP.
